My 13 year old son has been into making knives and needed to forge his creations in a furnace. We didn’t have a furnace, so we made a mini furnace to resolve the issue.
I have to give my son all the credit. He found instructions on how to do this and the times during our project, when things didn’t go right, my hand was the one caught in the cookie jar, so to speak.
Through these projects, we learn about each other. We learn how solve problems and in the process, make awesome, bonding memories and have fun.
Projects to do with your children number in the thousands. Pick one, or better yet, let your children pick one based on their current interests and then do everything in your power to procure the tools and supplies needed and then help plan and execute.
Our weekend project was a complete success….and we did not blow anything up…that’s always a good thing.
